That's crazy. I can only think of one suicide from when I was school. Seems like once a week I hear of school aged person committing suicide. Its truly a sad deal.
The closest we ever came to that was when I was a junior in HS--some disgraced political appointee in another state (PA or OH, I think) decided to blow his brains out during a live press conference. The only person I knew who offed himself was a classmate, but he did that several years after graduation (and I didn't particularly like him, anyway).

As sad at it is, I'm super glad this kid didn't decide to take other with him.

I agree. In my entire time in high school there were no suicides and only one student death from a car accident. Now, it seems like something is happening all the time. I agree that we need to take a serious look at what medicines we are giving our children.

I don't know if it was a local trend, or a generational trend, but my class had a fair share of these things. Coming of age in highschool through the turn of the century. My best friends brother walked to an elementary school and did the same in a bathroom. Mostly pistols, a few shotgunners, and one tortured kid drove his car off in a quarry a few years after graduation. All in all, our generation and class ended up with 27 suicides over the four years of highschool. A huge number for a town of 30k... But our class alone had almost 1000 students. Like Been said, a permanent solution to temporary problems. I'll never understand it

coweta dont mess around, i read they are only sending the 9th graders home the rest have to stay and finish out the day!!

Momma sent me to go get her baby, a 6'2" 200lb 16yr old in the 10th grade over at the highschool. I got the emergency service message we get on our phone system out here right when it happened and it said that all other classes will remain in session, so I went back to sleep. Then the ol lady is ringin my cell, wants me to go get the kid. So he's home, safe, in his room playing his Black Ops or whatever.

We had no suicides in school.

But my Freshman year Of High school we lost 3 classmates and another student who was older in one accident. Drinking and driving on homecoming night.
