Gravel Trucks and cracked windshields are a way of life on Tulsa Expressways and streets. Nothing ever changes and I've had to replace 3 windshields in the last 20 years. You are fortunate the Truck driver actually stopped. The last time a rock bounced into my windshield the crack was so loud it sounded like a gunshot.

Gravel Trucks not being responsible with their loads::angry3:

Good for you! I had an incident several years ago where a fully loaded uncovered ODOT sand truck coming at me at 65 mph BLASTED my truck. I turned around on him and got his info and took pictures. I called OHP and they said call ODOT and hung up on me. I called ODOT and they said file a claim and they hung up on me. I had three estimates of over $5000. I filed a claim and guess what?? They denied it. Go figure. Little ole me took on the great State of Oklahoma in small claims court in Creek County. The judge slammed his gavel down in my favor.

ODOT was spreading a lot of road hazards out on the highways the last couple of days.

I was gonna say, good luck getting ODOT to admit to a damned thing or do anything about it - they're state, right? Those 'secure your load' laws are for the little people, not for them...

I'm amazed you got anywhere, but NOT amazed you had to go to those lengths. I'm guessing they get a whole shiteload of those claims to disappear by repeated denials. Most people not going to go to the lengths you did.

Yep, if even a cop car runs an intersection and you're in the right, they hit you and you are going to have a very difficult time trying to get the city to pay for your damages. In many cases, the investigation will "determine that the cop car was in the right," saving face and $$ for the cop and the city. Sometimes you can't win even if you're right.
