i took 2x2 square tubing, then 2x2 angle , free from a jobsite, and stuck em in 5 gal buckets. then got some bags of quickcrete and let it set. welded 10x10 x 3/8 plates up high but facing down at an angle to deflect . it took re-doing them to get to this point but now , 5 total, theyve had thousands of rds at em and i plan on thousands more. got maybe 30 bucks in all of it.

Pick up an old tire tread off the side of the road/cut the tread off an old tire lying around, drill holes in the ends to match up to your plate and fold it over the top rail, bolt and shoot. You would be amazed at how many shots a steel belted radial tread will absorb without ill affects. Typically free/super cheap and durable as all get-out. Fire hose also works very well, from what I have been told.
