Just keep her wiped down. If it rusts it should be able to be cleaned up with a little oil. Just keep an eye on it.

I'm afraid of the same thing with my model 38.

Ya know, it's funny...my model 38 rides in my sweaty ol' pocket every day and it doesn't have a speck of rust on it anywhere!

What's even funnier is that the only part of the model 13 that I'm really worried about is the grip. The rest of the gun is fine...it's that damned grip that always rusts on me.

I guess that's why I don't worry about my model 38 rusting...it's got an aluminum grip!

Also, be sure and look under the bottom of the barrel to make sure it's not cracked.

Airweights are famous for doing that.

Yours is an "older" model, from the late 80's...right? You should be ok. I see more cracked ones from this millenium (2000+ models) than I do the older guys.

Chances are, S&W will send you a "new" one. Probably a model 438 with a *gulp* lock!
