Someone correct if I'm wrong, but there's no simple way to do this under existing FFL laws, right? Only FFLs can do a check, so to run a check on a private sale, the private parties have to find a willing FFL who will take the gun in to their bound book, call the check in, and wait on the response, right? Then the FFL is screwed if there's a delay or denied, right? Would the FFL then have to NICS the original seller to return it to them?

It's one of those nice-sounding ideas that falls apart when you try to execute it.
