My brother has suppressors, and I absolutely don’t see the point unless you’re using subsonic ammo (which he doesn’t). Why would you want that additional weight on the end of your barrel?!?

Personally, I think the Texas suppressor bill is political pandering and don’t see it going anywhere.:anyone:

Suppressors help with hearing conservation as well as reducing the noise pollution from ranges and hunters in the field in a semi urban area.

Face it urban sprawl is everywhere, so keeping the noise down at times might not be a bad idea.

Also its about freedom, you may not like suppressors but plenty of other gun owners and hunters do. So why not support them in their cause?

Firearm owners are one of the most divided groups of people I have met, united we stand, divided we fall.

If I thought I could get away with it I’d put my can on my little .22 and thin out the tree rats that keep trying to invade my house. The cat lady living in the house behind me would probably be the only one to notice.

Is this your neighbor??

Nope. She is WAY above my pay grade. The cat lady behind me puts feed out for birds every morning which in turn attracts feral cats who are breeding like rabbits and between the food she puts out and the big oak tree in my back yard I have more than my fair share of tree rats invading my AO.

You’re making a real assumption about me. I absolutely DID NOT say anything about not liking suppressors. As a matter of fact, if it wasn’t for the whole class 3 thing, I would definitely own one and use subsonic ammo to get the full benefit of it.

People making assumptive posts like yours is exactly what divides gun owners and hunters. If you want to quote me, that’s fine but don’t try to make my post into food for a soap box rant.

I get the whole “noise pollution/urban sprawl” excuse, but in many/most people’s cases, that’s not why they own one. Here in TX, it’s like a “cool kid’s club” to have a suppressor.

Not trying to make anything out of anything

So what if it’s about the cool kid thing. what it about is ownership and exercising ones constitutional rights. So why not fully support it instead of calling it a cool kid thing.

My stance on the subject is we all stand together or one group at a time will be picked off.

I also did not call you out by name. I did quote your post and make a statement based on your post. Nothing else.

The point of suppressors is to cut the sound. The weight is a moot point as they don't really weigh that much. I personally enjoy having my supers tuned down to 22mag volumes when hunting as I don't wear ear protection. I'm not sure what this class 3 thing is that was brought up unless the tax stamp is what is being referred to. I'm not a fan of them being regulated, but it's not hard to apply. The hardest part is waiting for approval. Actually, it could be stated that the fee to apply could be racist as well. While the subject of suppressors is on the table, what exactly do most people think they are used for?
