So a pal of mine buys himself a pretty cool .308 AR style rifle(Remington)...buys a box of of ammo and some spare 20 round mags too(two or three). Then goes on a scavanger-hunt for cheap 7.62 NATO/.308 ammo...and can't find anything cheap enough to suit him.
OK...I make the mistake of turning him onto a couple boxs of UMC .308 ball ammo I've had rat-holed since the 1990's...he sees my stash of ammo...
A week or so later..he tries to get me to sell him a battle-pack of 7.62...which I ain't doing as I always replace what I use...and replacing ammo right now is not high on my list of things to do. I gave him 40 rounds as a 'getting started' gift...and when ammo wasn't as cheap or available as he expected...wants into my stash.
Well..FUDGE!...I think the ammo thing burned our friendship....
My veiwpoint is that my emergency ammo stash is my emergency ammo stash...not community property. I really didn't buy up a bunch of various calibers ammo in the mid 1990's so that my friends in 2012/2013 would have access to cheap ammo...or for that matter that my friends had access to it at all!! I did give away 2 boxs(with 1990's price tags of like $7.00 per box of 20)...but that was simply a gift...not a sales sample!! I don't want to sell-off my stash..simple as that..sorry.
Not for sure what my pal's veiwpoint is....as soon as I said I didn't want to sell a 200 round battle-pack..or any ammo..he got a bit miffed and I have not talked to him since...
So really?...Short of some short of real emergency...why should I share my ammo stash??
