OPSEC. First rule of ammo storage is - you don't talk about ammo storage. Your "buddy" will turn you in and collect a bounty when Congress passes the Feinstein Ammo Anti-Hoarding bill.

I take the two stash approach.

I've got my emergency reserve, and then I've got the stuff I take out to the range, share with friends etc. As far as anyone I know is concerned, all I've got is my non reserve stash. It's worth keeping things separated just for your own well being so that you don't identically burn through what you thought was reserve by not keeping track of trips to the range.

It's basically just like having a checking account and saving account at the bank.

Offer to sell it to him....at 5% above current retail value. If he complains tell him to go to the store and buy his own damn ammmo. It cost just as much for him to buy more bullets as it does you. Sounds like he doesn't understand your stash is a reserve, not stock that gets used until gone.

We need to consider that no one has succeeded simply on their own. If you have enough ammo to have a surplus, then you probably had the moral support of your friends and employer. Your friend have children or know someone that has children that he may need to protect someday? Share with him, shame on you, it is for the children!!
