Yep, he had to stop when tracking down springs not worth what the knives brought in, tried one or two other steels and settled down to 1095 around 1960, added the M stamp at that time, which is only way to date my knife, while his grandsons could probably better nail it down if sent to them, they know who was in shop then and what their work looked like. They are apparently getting too old to keep it up past getting out custom and/or larger blades backlog, ceased taking orders almost 2yrs ago, and none of their kids wanted to work in the shop, and instead college and etc. Great 10yr old Ruana 10min documentary.

I always have a knife, after one day as a kid asking my boss, "Curtis, do you have a knife?", and his reply was, "I have damned pockets, don't I?".....lesson learned.
Yup. I'm the same way. If I'm vertical, I always have a knife and a torch, no matter how small they are.
I used to have quite a few, but never all at once, at one time or another have owned 30 different Randalls but kept only one, have owned some of the most famous handmade including Bagwell, Tomes, other ABS Master smiths, but too much money sitting around only a rust speck away from half their value, and they were sold. I do not own a knife I do not carry, if it doesn't ever leave the house it goes away, so I am posting what I drag out to air out for the day here on what knife I am carrying on any given day. I have hard users and those bought just to own, they all get out from time to time, and being retired now, I have zero knives getting much actual use.
Case stockman been carrying one since 81.
This one is a thin 1/8th" thick (no thicker than most any 4" pocket knife) blade, so is light and flat. Works great just shoved under belt, and accurately reproduces, to include blade stamping and scrawled maker name, a famous WWII commando knife made by John Ek who went on to produce for Korea and Vietnam use as well. No combat prybar but a very good knife for cutting or poking (or designed enemy sentry elimination), VERY secure handle needs no guard, Ek considered them a snag hazard on enemy gear or when attempting a draw. As for performance, this blade convexes down to a true razor edge, and is one of the best cutting knives I own.

Just picked up a few of the orange Ozark trail 7.5 bug out clones. I think they handle and feel better than the bugout. Lock studs and thumb studs stick out further and the handle is a little fuller. Handles a lot easier than the bugout. Great beater for 10.
Which walmart, as folk were looking for them a few weeks back when they were on sale (for $5?), but all which could be found was white at one mentioned store....something like that.
