Same situation here. If it needs to cool off, she thinks turning it to 60 will make it work faster. LOL!Heat we run the bedroom part of the house at 62-63 at night(wife likes it cold), 65-66 in the morning and 62-63 the remainder of the time. Main part of house is 62-63 at night, 67 during the day and evening. Summer is 72-73 at night in the bedrooms and 74-75 during the day, and 74-75 at night for the main area, and 73-4 during the day.
Wife has the female gene that causes them to turn the AC really low when she gets hot, because turning it lower makes it get colder faster(not). After several times of coming into an empty house with the AC set at 67 I put in some automation that detects any setting lower than 70 and resets it to 72 for an hour then resorts to the normal settings.
No amount of "splaining" makes any difference.
We have a newer heat pump unit. Summers are at 73, winters at 75 and I'd crank it up if possible. Hate the heat pumps in winter. They only produce 80 some degree air, so it always feels like sitting in a cold draft. We keep ceiling fans running backwards all winter to distribute the "warm" air which kind of makes it worse, but in reality, it's the thing to do.
Never had to sit around the home in a heated blanket until we got that heat pump. It's a common complaint among heat pump users.
