What disqualifications does OK have that would allow someone to get their license in FL? Looking at their site I dont see anything that would disqualify someone in OK, that would allow them to obtain a FL permit. Also, most states now require you to have a permit from your homestate before obtaining a non-resident permit, so there wouldnt be any circumventing the process, just not renewing OK's. Another reason some people will obtain a non-resident perrmit is reciprocity. Since not all states have reciprocity agreements, a non-resident permit may grant you the ability to carry where your resident permit wont. On the flip side, some states dont recipricate non-resident permits, only resident permits.

No misdemeanor drug offenses is a biggie. If you search OSA for non-resident, you'll find plenty of people who do NOT have a resident permit and they are carrying on a non-resident permit. It is legal.

Misdeamor drug offense is a disqualifier for the FL permit if in the past 3 years, and if OK does not like that FL will issue if a person has had one beyond 3 years, they dont have to sign a reciprocity agreement. I dont even know why the legality of a non resident permit was brought up in your statement, we are in agreement on that fact. I have stated several have non-resident permits, and I recommend if possible, and in a time crunch, to save money or just say to OK and OSBI, the process needs to be fixed and until such time, we will use other means, to get a non-resident permit. Not all states require a permit from your resident state, some will issue a non resident permit without it. The ones that do, havent always required it, most of these members got it before their laws changed, and are grandfathered in. I am all for and recommend a non-resident permit. Let your OK permit lapse, and keep renewing your non resident permit. Most have a faster turnaround time, and lower cost than OK. Just make sure its one OK has reciprocity with, and check back regularly to make sure that reciprocity hasnt changed.

Wasn't really directed at you. It was directed at rabbitcreekok's comment stating "but if you are a resident of Oklahoma, you may have to possess resident license to carry in Oklahoma."

Day 105! But guess what? It was in my mail box. 91 days is what OSBI had it, but it was a fight, had I not kept checking up, it wouldnt have been discovered it was lost.

What do you mean by checking up? Did you call OSBI & ask about the status of your application? If so, can you share the # on here? I called to ask a question, as I am a non resident of OK & I have a special situation with my states Drivers License & I wanted to verify that it wouldn't cause a hold up, the person that answered @ OSBI had no clue what I was talking about, so I never had a good feeling about this process.
