The little post next to the big house
has anyone used a CZ453 heavy barrel .22 varmint with single set trigger?

I have a 453 American. The 453 Varmint (unlike the 452 Varmint) uses the same two-screw action the 452/453 American uses.

The trigger is great. Fully adjustable with set feature. I like having the set function (which is really light) for the range, and a heavier (~ 2 lbs) trigger for everything else.

The answer is Anschutz (or old Win 52).

Oh, on a budget UNDER $1,000? Then a CZ 452/453, or Izhmash Biathlon Basic.

My brother and I have five 452s/453s between us, and they'se is very good rifles that put a smile on my face.

No, but I have the CZ 453 Varmint (HB, set trigger) in .17 HMR, and it does 0.725 MOA (or better) 5-shot groups at 50 yards, and easily 0.900 MOA at 100 yards.

I didn't read the entire thread and it looks like everyone is posted bolt actions, and that is the logical choice for accuracy. However, my Remington Fieldmaster 572 (pump) with a good scope is as accurate as anything I have shot.

Looks like this (not actual rifle) I got it when I was a teenager and shot hundreds of squirrels with it as a kid. I was actually a better shot with the iron sights as I was with a scope.
