I'm just wondering what's the point of flaunting your firearm? To show off? What's wrong with concealed carry? I'm all about gun rights but I'm not seeing the point of walking around with it displayed for all to see? It's a lawfully given right, but I don't really see the point?

The OP was well within their rights and I have no issue with them open carrying, it's a personal choice as well it should be. That being said, it's a choice for the business to restrict that right on their property just as it is another choice for us to either dis-arm and do business with them or choose to go elsewhere.

Flaunting is a derogatory term used in alluding to ostentatious bevavior.

If you feel that open carry fits this, you are free to not partake.

There are many reasons to OC. While I still prefer CC, for many honest citizens including my disabled vet Dad, its not flaunting.

As for the OP, you handled the situation appropriately.

I'd say the only thing the OP did wrong was completing his purchase. I would have politely told the employee that I respected their right to control their property and that I would be exercising my right of choice to shop somewhere else, and left.

I wouldn't make a scene, I'd be polite, quiet and courteous, but I certainly wouldn't be supporting that business.

I take issue when people feel that us that want to OC are "flaunting" our firearms. Its a right afforded to us by the state. I personally find it much more comfortable to carry OC simple as that.

Would you like it if I said "Those cowardly CC carriers that hide their guns like the gang banger thugs do".

44 states In the USA have some sort of OC. must be a lot of penis envy out there for that many people to want the right to carry their weapon as they see fit.

Probably, or Abdul Waseem Abdul.

If you replace all firearm references in your post with references to free speech it illustrates the point pretty well.

It's not a RIGHT if you need a license from the state to do it. Rights are natural, i.e. we're born with them as human beings, so they pre-exist the state and the state is only responsible for the reasonable protection of your rights. This is the primary reason for the state to exist, not the other way around where you exist to serve the state.
