Well... Here is another store I won't be shopping at. I don't normally open carry, but it is nice to know I have the right to do so, and know that the establishments I patronize support and respect my right to do so.

I have been proudly exercising my newly acquired right to open carry, and as such, I am VERY careful to extensively examine the front door, as well as any surrounding areas for signs that suggest that firearms are not allowed.
So, last Tuesday I was at a new store for me... I was picking up some whole wheat pie crusts, and organic items for my mother for thanksgiving. I won't say the name of the establishment, but they sell "whole foods".
I had been there for no less than 20 minutes, trying to find things that were (in my opinion) illogically located, and had interacted with 1 particular worker 4-5 times. I am scooping some oats (not a metaphor) and this is my final item to collect, when this same worker approaches me and informs me that "actually, we do not allow firearms here, even though Oklahoma..." I didn't cut him off, he trailed off. I kindly suggested that I had checked carefully and that there was nothing posted. "Ya, we are working on getting that posted, if you want, I can wait with your stuff, while you run to your car." I told him that this was my last item, and then I was going to check out. He said that that would be fine.

I feel like I handled the situation properly, and after some extensive reading of the law, there is something ambiguous about the "right of property owners"... Thoughts?

One wonders if that 1 particular worker had the authority to ask you to leave or was exercising assumed authority based on his personal beliefs.

I would have at least asked to see a manager and dealt with that person instead of a worker who may have been running his own show and not that of the store.

And why did it take 4 or 5 times for the worker to ask you to leave. If the store's policy actually was to prohibit guns why didn't he ask you to leave the 1st time y'all interacted?

Please explain something to me, and before we get started I am not trying to pick a fight. I keep seeing these post about some business asking someone to leave for OC or they will not do business with them again because they have a No CC sign. Every gun show I have ever been too will not let you carry, but no one says they will never business with them again. I don't understand the difference.

Is it possible that a majority of the gun shows are held at the state fair grounds and the sign is a reminder you are not legally allowed to carry in the buildings? There was a thread about this during the state fair where you could carry on the grounds, but not in the buildings. I may not have finished reading that topic though as there are a lot of threads on this forum that interest me and I was not attending the fair this year.

Also there's the possibility they are just trying to keep vendors/patrons safe from theft. It would be easy to walk in with a holster and put a gun in it claiming it's yours, or what if a vendor thinks you took a firearm and now it's up to you to prove your innocence. Just sounds like a hassle they are not wanting to deal with. Just my take on it, be it true or false...

I would have at least asked to see a manager and dealt with that person instead of a worker who may have been running his own show and not that of the store.

I would think the same in this situation.

The way I see it, is it is assumed if you are there with a gun that it is for sale, so if someone asks to see it and you pull it out, they want to make sure it's unloaded, and check at the door simply to avoid dumbasses letting other dumbasses finger bang their loaded gun in a confined space with strangers cheek-to-cheek.

Even with those kinds of rules there every year it seems you hear about an ND at a gunshow.
