My mid 70s Echo finally seems to have passed. I have a newer Stihl but always seem to need two saws as one will be finicky.

What seems to be the “good stuff” this year?

I need 16” bar, want 18” bar. Have dealers and pawn shops and repair shops within 45 miles of the house for most makes.

Really like the new dangled shock absorbing qualities of the Stihl.

Would like easier to start, I am getting older.

One or twice a year use but when used it is several days of cutting things up.

I have 2 newer stihl saws an MS 170 and MS 250.
One thing I HATE about these new stihl saws is the energy efficiency crap which translates a little into NOT enough bar oil.

I cut a lot and found the more oil on that bar and chain the longer you can cut before needing to adjust the chain.

I like my Stihl saws and bought my son one and my fishing buddy got one from me also both of those were MS 170 16"

I use my 170 often.
I also have an Echo I got from a member here might be the CS590.
Sucker cuts much faster than the stihl saws.

I did a muffler mod on the MS250 and picked up a lot of power.
I was using it to slab cedar trees and when the bar was buried all the way it was a bit doggy and would stop sometimes and the muffler mod made it no longer stop.

Need ear protection :)

Just for the fact not enough chain oil i would not go Stihl.

I would not go electric either if you ever have to fell a tree and want to cut it all up into firewood.
2 fully charged batteries will not get that job completed.

My neighbor has a 40V electric and had to invite me over to finish the job on a pecan tree.
He got into the thick trunk after it was down and it would only make 3 cuts and the battery was dead.

He bought the saw just for that tree.

3 years later and not using it the batteries or the saw would not work at all.
It is Blue in color I think it is a Kobalt.
