Does Bass Pro Shops just suck now????

Cool, I have two pups I like to sit with, I find watching them watching every thing going on is funny. I do encourage them to look at stuff too though. They can spot Grandma for a mile away, that really excites them.

Recently I was waiting in the car for my gf to come out of the grocery store. When she did, I started wiggling and pawing at the window. She rolled her eyes

I park in Bass Pro's parking lot when there are events downtown. Other than that, I don't care about them.

Me and the wife decided to take a trip to BP to pick up some stocking stuffers. It has been a while since the last time we did this. I browsed the fishing section and picked out a couple swimbaits that were larger than the last bass i caught. 20 bucks each. I think they are made to catch fishermen, not fish lol. But my despair came in the hunting section. I thought I would pick up some 209 primers while I was there. NOPE! they didn't have any, oh well, I have more on my list. I've been wanting a Buck 110 auto for a while. I went to the knife case to see if they had one, NOPE! They didn't even have a Buck 110 original. WTF? What kind of sporting goods store does not carry a Buck 110?! Oh well, I'll just get the shotgun magazine cap I need and move on. NOPE! AINT GOT ONE OF THEM EITHER!!! Wasted freakin trip!. At least the wife bought some stuff..... I remember what it was like before BP, Wal-Mart and Academy was good enough. I know 20 yrs ago either one of those stores would have had all 3 of those items I was lookin for. Dont. Know if i will ever go back to BP. Just sayin.....

Believe it or not I have one of those, I've had it for about 25 years. Still in excellent condition. It's a little bigger in size and doesn't have the extra moving part but still deploys an open locked 110 every time. I just like switchblades!

BPS has fallen in line with most every corporation - they now have top-level execs implementing “numbers-driven” strategies that maximize profits and ROI to shareholders. The emphasis is not on “how do we serve the customer”, but rather “how do we increase profits”, often by selling cheap chunk or, in the case of BPS/Cabelas, house-brand candy and toys. I see it everywhere in every facet of business- service companies, retail, construction, etc.

I wondered several times on different trips through a BPS with $100+ of gift cards in my pocket, and left each time thinking what a waste of time…… I finally gathered up some old reels, went and bought braided line, had their guy restring a few reels, mainly to reduce the thickness of my wallet.

It’s profits over people, and the execs calling the shots are often clueless about operations or the activity their products are supposed to support.

I just moved back from CO 2yrs ago. I can tell you I shopped at Sportmans ,Cabelas, Jax and then Scheels. The Cabelas was the best before BP bought them and it went south pretty quick so I switched to Jax because Sportsman’s was always a joke. Scheels came in and really stole the show decent prices, great selection of quality products and a great atmosphere
