I'm glad I'm in El Reno- Worse we've had is a couple of little yellow/black garden snakes, but me and a friend of mine were on our walk this morning and a scorpion was right in the middle of the walk trail. I carry a 30" extra heavy broom stick and a mace sprayer since it's a school track. I smashed him with my broom stick. I grew up in this area and we never had them around when I was a kid- did the immigrants bring them?
The immigrants really did bring them in

In your momma’s bedroom.
I’ve already killed two. And one Pigmy rattlesnake.

For the record we haven’t had many Copperheads at this place, but usually probably 2-6 Pigmy each year. I think are migrating over from my neighbors. They mow about 4 times a year and the place looks like a snake hotel.

That snake is saying: DENNIS!!!! I NEED HELP!!!
It is a very efficient rodent killer. We have a love/hate relationship.
I got into building birdhouses for wrens and bluebirds even putting blocks that they should not be able to overcome like a 18" disk blade, but it goes over it easily. It's a big guy, so that gives it the advantage.
I think it lives in my older shop building. Found it's shed skin several times in there. I'm good with that.

She’s miserable. But the swelling is primarily hanging down below her chin/jaw. So no breathing or drinking constriction.
This happened to my old Pete dog, another pit and the one who changed my opinion on the breed, and he avoided snakes like the plague after it. Hopefully she will too.

We had a couple rat terriers who both got bit by copperheads at our old place. They became snake killing machines. I’d prefer this puppy just avoid them.

Terriers are generally pretty fearless. I've had a dozen or more JRTs over the years. Nearly all of them thought they were the baddest thing to ever walk and they'd tangle with anything. A few of them were difficult to keep alive when I lived in the mountains. I had 3 get in a Terrier/Bear rodeo one night in the dog run. Mom and 2 cubs were in the run when I let them out before bed. The two cubs treed while momma ran around the yard chasing one Terrier while the other two nipped at her heels. She'd turn and go after a different one and the same thing happened. Finally I got their attention and got them up the stairs into the house. The bear chased them up the stairs until she ran into me. I just backed up into the house and let her be. She got her two cubs and split. The dogs thought it was great sport. For about 3 weeks, every time I let them back into the dog run (after checking for bears) they'd tear ass outside running around looking for a bear to chase.
