Due to some medical issues, it's been 3 months since we've been on the water. We finally felt up to giving it a shot yesterday. We only caught 6 fish over 4 hours, but it was an absolutely beautiful day. Water temps on Skiatook were in the 75-76 degree range at the surface. We saw a LOT of fish and bait on sonar, but most of them were in the 30'-45' range and pretty inactive (it was post front conditions). I'd say in the next couple of weeks they should turn on the feedbag.
The Monarchs are just beginning their migration so we got to see quite a few. We even got two B-25 Mitchell flybys, so it was a great day just to be on the water!
The water was only abut 1 degree cooler than it was on Sunday. The fish are still deep and were mostly lockjawed. At least we were able to entice this 3 pound 10 ounce smallie off a 20' submerged point surrounded by 55' water.
Took my nephew fishing yesterday morning. We didn't quite have 2 hours due to something else we needed to go to.
I caught 3 ( & lost 1 in the final 4 ft of getting it to the bank) & he caught 3. Although he did get the biggest fish of the morning. I enjoy seeing how excited he gets when he hooks one.
Wife and I spent 8 days on Lake Tanneycomo in Missouri like we have done for the last 32 years.
Focused on catching big trout vs numbers.
Broke my personal record with a 20” rainbow this trip
