Sounds good, I fully support constitutional carry.

If you can legally own a gun you should be able to carry a gun.

Your birth right of self defense doesn't stop at the threshold of your door.

Exactly right. It is all a money thing. That's why I don't see it ever passing. But I hope I am dead wrong on that. We need to bombard the reps and senators to pass this.

The fiscal impact is significant. The loss of annual recurring OSBI revolving fund revenue is estimated to be as much as $6,000,000 to $7,000,000 which is about 15-18% of our current operations budget. Layoffs through a reduction in force of up to 60-70 or more positions, about 20-25% of our workforce, would be required as well as reductions in operating expenses.

Need to get the State Auditor's office behind it as an opportunity for revenue savings then.

I'm all for it, but I don't see it passing simply because of the fiscal and employee impact it would have:

Hard to believe it takes 60-70 state employees simply to administer the current SDA.
Tough luck, I don't earn money to support state employees.

You say that like state employees are not important? Your taxes pay their wages, not unlike the firemen who would show up if your **** were on fire or the police that come when u are scared of the boogy man. It's a socialist system that I'm guessing u don't want to do without. You live in a glass house yet your throwing stones...SMDH

I can see his point in this case though ... the particular job they're doing is something most of those here probably wish would become unnecessary. If most of them are primarily administrative types it probably shouldn't be a major effort to relocate them to vacancies in other departments rather than send them packing.

I was referring to the people doing the background checks. They are no longer needed/never were. Lay them off, we need to reduce costs.

OMFG, what would we ever do without paper pushers putting prior restraints on our liberty, and making us jump through a bunch of bureaucratic hoops to do something that we have an inalienable right to do? Yeah, they are totally in the same category as police and firemen. [/sarcasm]

Getting some liberty back AND cutting the size of government... sounds like a win to me.
