I forgot how much money and torture a dentist visit is

In the last 13 months I’ve had a crown and the Mrs has had two extractions followed by two implants that had to be done by an oral surgeon due to bone loss. All that cost around &12,000 and they just gave us a quote for two more extractions along with implants. Good news is her bone is healthy so the dentist can do these….for a fee of $9,000. And all that is including our crappy dental insurance which they’re covering around $3,000/year for dental work. Makes me want to say bad words.

Feel for you man! I hate dentists, will not go unless I have to. I had a bad dentists experience when I was ten or eleven. Long story short got 2 teeth pulled while I felt every bit of it. I was given Bupivacaine to deaden my mouth which come to find out has no effect on me. I'm screaming and hollering so dentist gives me more and continues. I'm screaming and hollering again so now I'm just a wimp I was told. Their was no way i should be feeling any of it. Come to find out that night Bupivacaine had no effect on my dad either.

First time experience to an indian dentist facility and they tried to pull some teeth without any local. I grabbed the dentists arm told him I hadn't been given any meds for it and he told me to sit still and don't argue. I was 12 yrs old and stood up with his arm still in my hand and said work on your next sucker. I walked out.

Dental work is always the last to take care of, everything else comes before dental work. The problem is, if dental is put off, a simple filling can be an expensive crown if not taken care of early. And when a decay occurs beneath a crown is is seldom seen until too late and then the crown falls off and then $$$.

I think what soured me the most was I went to get a crown and at the end of 4 hours root canal and all, I had a temporary crown and another appointment for the next week to get the permanent one. Why do all that work and not put a permanent crown on? I viewed it as a scam to get more money.
The procedure also cause my TMJ to go nuts and I have developed a really bad gag reflex. Even the X Ray film squares make me gag. I won't go to another dentist that doesn't have that 360 degree noninvasive X Ray.

Another dentist cleaned my bottom teeth and quit making another appointment to clean the top teeth. Same thing, another scam.

I had a back tooth extracted that turned out to be a nightmare. It took almost 3 hours and the dentist advised that it was in the top 5 of worst she had done. Then about 4 weeks of bone/tooth spurs.

I don't have dental insurance and pay by credit card. The place I go to here in Claremore has 3 women
dentists and for $300 a year it covers all cleanings, X-rays etc. A crown costs $1000. They do a good
job and it's painless. I don't like dentist's either but I like to eat steaks so I want to keep my teeth in
good shape for as long as I can.
