I served with more than a few Mormons in the military. In short, there was nothing remarkable about them in the sense that they were Americans in uniform just like me. If there was any distinction, I would say they were a bit more level headed/mellow than others. We served, followed the rules, raised our families etc...their faith was their own and was never an issue.

Yes...as long as someone is not hurting anyone, they should be able to believe what they want...just watch out for the "White Horse Prophecy" if Romney is elected j/k...

I have worked with Mormon lawyers and worked known Mormons in undergrad. In general, they are reliable, upstanding moral people. I have nothing but respect for them and have found them to be honest and kind. That's a generalization, but it is also my experience. In fact, a Mormon nurse I worked on Fen Phen cases with years ago still puts my name on the rolls for prayers. Can't beat that!

I suspect she perceived just how much and how long you needed her help. :)

Barstow CA. Has a large Mormon population I went to school with and was friends with Mormons during high school. They were nice people, strong family values, strong sense of community, huge preppers, and not a religious intolerant bone in their body at least the ones I knew. I attended services a few times with some friends, my scout troop was chartered throughout the church of later day saints.

The closest I ever came to "finding god" and joining a religion was with the Mormons. But I just am not wired that way still an unwashed heathen, but of all the organized religions I have been exposed to growing up I have the utmost respect for the Mormons, followed closely by my respect for the Mennonites and the Amish.

Well Dustin, you got me! I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon). I was not raised in the Church but converted 40 years ago. I had attended many other Churches but never became attached. I raised my children in the Church and now watch my grandchildren as they grow into adulthood. We believe in God, Jesus Christ, and that nothing on earth is more important than the family. If you have a sincere desire for additional information PM me and I can arrange for a couple of clean cut young men in white shirts to visit you. They can answer any and all questions you have regarding our beliefs. You can also go to www.mormon.org for information on your own.

Best wishes to all
Al

Lived south of Salt Lake City for 5 years, graduated High School there and some college @ Utah State.
Made it out unconverted although it wasn't for lack of trying by some of my friends.
Most Mormans are very good people and some of the best that I've known are what they call "jack" Mormans.
Two neighbors saw my dad and I building a corral for dad's horses, next thing I knew they were over working there asses of helping,
they actually finished it when my dad got a perforated ulser and had to go into the hospital.
Prepping is part of their belief, if I remember right they are supposed to have 3-5 years of supplies.
