Lived south of Salt Lake City for 5 years, graduated High School there and some college @ Utah State.
Made it out unconverted although it wasn't for lack of trying by some of my friends.
Most Mormans are very good people and some of the best that I've known are what they call "jack" Mormans.
Two neighbors saw my dad and I building a corral for dad's horses, next thing I knew they were over working there asses of helping,
they actually finished it when my dad got a perforated ulser and had to go into the hospital.
Prepping is part of their belief, if I remember right they are supposed to have 3-5 years of supplies.

Maybe that's what it's about, good people regardless of their religion?

Have not been on or posted much of late, but saw this thread and thought I would weigh in. I am also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, commonly Mormons. I would be happy to answer any questions anyone has, either in this thread or via PM depending on your preference. I am a living breathing thinking human and I am a Mormon. I have been a member all my life, although I have also spent time away from the church and have investigated a great many other religions.

I'm not Mormon. And it really never occurred to me to ask anyone else if they are Mormon and it pretty much never came up if they were.
And really, I would either like them or dislike them pretty much either way, as determined by other stuff.

I suppose like any religion there's good and bad. I've known some former Mormons who were treated pretty nasty by their church because they broke the "rules" but that's most any religion. I remember my family getting hate mail and hateful calls as a kid in Oklahoma because people in town learned we were catholic. The local Baptist majority really got their Adam and Eve underoo's in a bunch over it. I had never even heard of such things until then. Mom told us just to watch out because they had distributed flyers naming the people in town who were catholic. So....I personally don't care what religion someone is, it's a non-issue to me, unless they are trying to use their religion to dictate how I live my life, then there's gonna be problems.

Although if they come to my house to tell me about their religion I'll give them a polite "get lost". That's where my tolerance ends.

When I was growing up, you pretty much knew who was Catholic in Elk City, because they went to Catholic school until they hit the ninth grade. i didn't consider it odd or anything, it's just the way it was.

If you have a sincere desire for additional information PM me and I can arrange for a couple of clean cut young men in white shirts to visit you.
You don't have to make arrangements. They will find him. They find everybody.

I have had neighbors, classmates, peers and friends who are Mormon. I disagreed with, admired and respected everyone of them. I disagree with their religious beliefs. I admire their devotion. I respect the way they treat others.

They have the same devotion to their beliefs as Muslim extremists. Fortunately, instead of their religion requiring that they kill infidels, their religion requires that they be good, decent people who are generous and thoughtful neighbors. Maybe that is a poor contrast to draw and certainly an oversimplification but I can't think of two religious groups of people on more opposite ends of the spectrum.

Yeah, that pretty much describes me too. I generally don't want to know what someone's religion is.
