Can you just leave it in the car in the summer? Ad says 140 deg upper range, which can probably hit in the summer. I'd like to get one, but I know if I can't just leave it up, it wouldn't get used like intended.

You can. I leave mine in the truck in the Florida heat. I do take it off the slide adapter if I'm not going to be working for 4 or 5 days.
