Does anyone know why the Senate struck the title off SB129? Is it possible that there were a whole lot of them that only wanted to be able to tell the uniformed public that they voted pro gun when they really didn't and will never support the bill with a title? Or was it just some way to allow the house to make more amendments?

Personally, if HB1796 couldn't even get a floor vote I don't see how SB129 will ever get one between Tibbs and Sullivan but I hope I am wrong and will do what I can to help. I have already emailed representative Armes on this but I will make a phone call soon. Does anyone know how the time-line will go on SB129 from here out?

We need to organize a rally to show up at the capitol with signs readinig "YES to SB 129"...or other related signage.
How could we organize a crapload of people in a short amount of time to do this next week?
I work within walking distance of the capitol (ODOT Headquarters) so i could go over there anytime but i need reinforcements...lol

I live about a hundred miles away or I would try to show up and do that. I will by in OKC at the end of next week but it is for my woman's birthday and she might not think it too cool for me to take her to a political rally for her birthday. :-(

Yeah, see it would be difficult i think to organize a large crowd (100 or more) to do something like this is such short amount of time.
Any ideas?

If your kid or parent was in the hospital could you make it to OKC to see them?

I thought about being vocal on facebook about this issue, but it may stir up more stupid people than support.

I think we are just getting lip service. What are they distracting us from with Open Carry? Chris Steele just got some sort of insurance pool bill in, sounds just like ObamaBoehner Care to me.

My representative is not on the Tibbs committee and i believe he will vote for it. I will call him any way but would it be helpful I were to also make a call to another rep that is in the committee or even Tibb's office? If so, we should all plan to call her office in a certain time frame on a certain day to try to make a point.

Does anyone know why the Senate struck the title off SB129?

There's a couple of reasons. The way they've been running the press with it, I think the primary reason was to stir up the pot a little to see what the public sentiment would be for going that far. Some of those Senators truly support it, while others saw it as a "safe" way to say that they voted for open carry.

Sometimes, a title is stricken to buy more time for a fiscal analysis. This bill probably needs one, but it's not one that could really pinpoint a cost. Basically, they just need someone to sign off on a prediction that the impact to conceal weapons permits would be limited.

The title could also be stricken in an effort to get the language in there and sent to the House, but force it to come back to the Senate to send it to the Governor's desk with the mile-high stack of other bills at the last minute. It could be a signal that the Senate doesn't believe the Governor would sign the bill at this time and needs a little more politicking.

Yeah, striking the title or enacting clause is a parliamentary game, but it can be used as a tool.

I'm vocal on Facebook. Most people don't argue with me very long. I think it's because I use facts and figures in my arguments, most of which are irrefutable.

The insurance exchange bill is a requirement of Obamacare. The people you elected who said they would stand up against Obamacare and voted for that bill should be voted out of office. Just like Fallin had the opportunity to decline the federal dollars for setting up the exchange, your legislators had the opportunity to vote down the bill enabling the exchange controlled by a non-elected official.

I watched TV 9 this morning and there was a state senator on there being inteviewed about open carry. I think we need to read the law before we make any assumptions about wheither or not we could print or not even with open carry. Looks a little flaky to me.

VM, maybe start a new thread, see if we can rally a group to get down to the Capitol in large numbers.... Something that would draw media attention is what I'm thinking.
If you start the thread you could give the official details of the bill better than I.
I'm in and I could get probably 4 of my buddy's, (maybe a few more) so there's 5-8 peeps there. If we could get a good turnout here on OSA we would have a good crowd.
