I had a pet skunk that I used to feed hotdogs to. He'd come around every evening. Never gave me any problems. Cept I just never got the nerve up to actually pat him on the head. I guess he could have been a her. Didn't want to check that out either. Hadn't seen him since I got back from Alaska. Out walking around today and found his remains. Not much left to bury or anything. Let's all remember the animals that had the unfortunate experience to become one with the place of there death. It's gotta be a sad way to go...

I somehow dont feel too bad for that little disease infested vermin. They sure do raise a stink when they get crushed by a tire or two though. Good riddance little feller!

What would you do without them? We don't have skunks in Alaska. When you smell the pungent aroma of skunk and the overpowering stinch of the pig lots in Guymon I know I'm finally getting close to home.

Apparently skunks make decent pets. There are ways to remove the scent glands, and some people do so. The biggest downside is that there is no approved rabies vaccine for them. If your skunk bites someone, you will be required to put it down so they can take a brain sample to test for rabies. I guess in this case it was more of a wild skunk that you had befriended, but I thought it was interesting to note. I don't like skunks, but a friendly hot dog eating one is okay in my book. Sorry to hear about its passing.

...and yes, I do know too much about these things. I went through an exotic pet phase when I was a freshman in high school. Fortunately my parents were smart enough not to indulge me. For all I know, however, this information might not be current. Disclaimer: always research skunks before buying one.
