Steel cased ammo won't hurt your AR, especially one like the 6920 that has a chrome lined chamber. Thinking that a chrome lined AR chamber with steel cased ammo will wear any faster than a chrome lined AK chamber with steel cases defies any resemblance to basic reasoning. The extractor might see more wear. In four rifles of varying price point and quality I have not seen it. Even the two that are not chromed and have seen a couple of thousand rounds each of steel cases, neither show abnormal extractor wear.

The steel case does not expand to seal the chamber as well as brass does and the chamber will crud up quicker. Clean it a little more frequently and it should be no problem.

I think I've heard some of that before. Since the traditional AR craps where it eats, the poster's theory was that more crap would end up in the chamber, giving the chamber a little grit to scrape along with the harder casing.

Throat erosion will seriously degrade accuracy far sooner than steel cases would wear the chamber. Regardless, for the cost savings in steel cased ammo, you could pay for a premium match grade barrel.

I tend to avoid TULA, but shoot Wolf and others in my AR's. I also shoot Federal 55gr .223, due to it's availability at Walmart. I like to keep a good supply of M855 on hand for SHTF and my defensive ammo is currently Mk318 Mod 0 SOST. When it's time to restock, I'll probably go with the Federal FBI load or Speer Gold Dot.

The key to making nearly any ammo that's within spec run in an AR is keeping the chamber clean and lube, lube lube.

Did I mention lube? :)
