So I had a storm shelter put in behind my house today. While the guys were here I talked to the backhoe operator to see if he ever did any other jobs. He asked what I had in mind and I told him I had a target across the road about 350 yards out in the field that I wanted to have a pile of dirt put behind. He said he could do it after they were done with the shelter. I gave him an extra hundred bucks and he went out and got it done for me. Ive been wanting this done for a while, but wasnt sure how much it would cost. He said if wasnt already here, then somethin like that would have cost a bit more. Im pretty pumped to finally get it done.

I found an old pic from a while back, and then the pic from today when he was finished.

thanks man,

i wonder how much sod is? ill go by lowes or home depot saturday and check it out.

Should not spend more than $100 getting SOD for that size of a slope, as long as you pick-up yourself its anywhere from $0.35-$1.00 a square foot depending on how much you get and delivery, and blah blah blah.

I recommend putting Sod Down as well as planting a Tree or 2 behind it, the root system will gravitate towards the area of the backstop as it has more ground cover, thereby re-enforcing it with something more permanent than grass, as well as adding the benefit of using all the water that pools up around it after it rains more effeciently, rather than having a potential mud bath.

Congrats on the tornado shelter and the backstop! I would love to have a backstop for some small caliber shooting on my 2 acres. Good idea asking the backhoe operator--i did something similar last month when the guy came out to bury the Cox Cable line to my house. He ended up burying the 45' of elec line running from my service panel to my well--and cheaper than if he had to come out just for that, and even cheaper than renting the equipment at Home Depot.
