lowes and home depot will not have sod this time of the year. like he said go to a sod farm, look in yellow pages, or online to find one. they might not sell now since it is dormant. if you cover the front and back i don't see $100 doing it. more like double that amount.

Sod a pile of dirt being used for a backstop? You got more money than me... I would just leave it. This time next year it will have natural grass on it if it ever rains.

Sod is not that expensive for this little project but a few good rains will bring that pile down a few feet with erosion easliy.
He can pay for grass or pay to have more dirt piled up this summer after spring rains bring it down.

This would be easy to cover with seed. If its close to the water hose, put seed down in mid to late May and wet it each night until it sprouts. Seed is real cheap, $15 would do this area easy with a thick cover.

For a temp. fix for eroision, try moist hay/straw if you have some. Or even put a tarp over it. Wind will eat away at it as well.
Clover works well also.
