So how do you prove the size of hail. Photos that could have been on the ground for an hour or those artificial produced.

The global warning media? I’ve lived here all my life and a quarter inch is big to me, not saying there’s bigger but baseball really? I never seen golf ball yet…

I hope your just trash talking.

That is why Tulsa is a liberal Mecca for the state. They have been spared the Biblical weather throughout the decades.

I have personally held Softball sized hail in Okmulgee in 98’. That storm destroyed every roof in town and every vehicle that wasn’t under cover.

A ground mount rack that would follow the sun and could be covered up in the case of a storm would be the ticket. It would also be nice if they could be stood straight up for cleaning.

The dust and dirt on them is supposed to kill the output. They need to be washed regularly to maintain maximum efficiency.

Pictures, I’m sure something that un-normal someone would sap a few shots. Not saying it’s never happened but talk is cheap, this board everyone knows everything it seems, They never can prove the claims usually.

So back on topic, you love solar?

Sounds like a litt Johnny story👍

A Little Johnny Joke – Whisky and Worms

A science teacher wanted to teach her 6th grade class a lesson about the evils of alcohol, so she produced an experiment that involved a glass of water, a glass of whiskey and two worms.
“Now, class. Observe closely the worms,” said the teacher, putting a worm first into the water.
The worm in the water wiggled about, happy as a worm in water could be. The second worm, she put into the whiskey. It writhed painfully and quickly sank to the bottom, dead as a doornail.
“Now, what lesson can we derive from this experiment?” the teacher asked.
Little Johnny, who naturally sits in back, raised his hand and wisely responded, “Drink whiskey and you won’t get worms!”

The pager I had in 98 didn’t take pics.

I don’t love Solar. I think it is great in an off grid situation. You have no other solution. You have to suck it up and lay out the cash.

I don’t think it makes sense for piggybacking to the electrical grid as an alternative to your purchase power.

If they made that much sense the utility companies would have them all over the country instead of wind farms.

There’s a guy on the yoottoobs that has practical stuff for off grid power of several varieties. Engineer 775 is his channel name. There’s so many variables in stand alone power that a guy would write a book just trying to touch on the points. IMO, this green stuff doesn’t scale to grid distribution as witnessed in Texas and other places not to mention the blight these wind farms represent. However, single home to off grid farm is absolutely doable. Like someone else said, these ads all over the internet and most of the outfits selling limitless power at no cost to you are snake oil salesmen. You don’t have to be an engineer if you have a library card to do a little homework.

Forklift batteries, surplus server batteries and some of the newer scaled LiPo/LiFe batteries have great potential to make a single serve installation an around the clock proposition. First thing is defining what you want and need and build out from there.

My wife has fought me hammer and tongs for almost twenty years but given events of the last few years is now getting on board.

I like the idea of solar which does work on cloudy days just not as well. My electric company doesn't buy any excess produced so that killed it for me. I was quoted $30K with no battery back-up. Those Tesla battery banks are $$$$$$$$$.
It’s the hiring it done that kills the financial viability of it. Even if you were to sell excess power back to the utility they only pay wholesale which is slightly less than nothing. If you have extra power you just need more stuff that uses power. 😂

Do you have a new roof ?? If they say old roof no problem, they are CROOKS! Do you have the 10-20k to put on new roof? Friends bought solar panels, got divorced, sold house, had to deduct solar payment off price of house because they didn't want it and was inefficient. think "soylendra" Bought a house last month and the scammers
are pounding on the door everyday!
New roof three years ago. If I need a roof, they will remove the solar panels for free and reinstall after a new roof is put on.
What do the companies say about our hail? As in what size hail do they claim the panels can withstand without damage?
The panels are tested with two-inch balls at 75 MPH.
I would check with your insurance company. Hail storms are a fact of life here. If they don’t cover it. You will be making payments on the panels that don’t work or paying out of pocket to replace them plus paying the electric bill.

If they do cover them I am sure it will affect your premiums.
The panels are guaranteed against hail and if there is any damage, they will be replaced for free.
It’s always insurance, Your $500 you pay for is for 3 or 4 panels and the cost over time is stupid.

Your paying big bucks on insurance, they are in business to take your money youI pay thousands a year but only need it if my house is destroyed.

You have old panels? We’ll pro rate them like we do batteries at best 😕
The panels are replaced when their efficiency drops for free.

While I was a tornado spotter, I had a grapefruit sized one visit my passenger seat through my windshield.

The YouTube channel Ambition Strikes has a pretty good series of videos on the setup they have. They are 100% off grid. It was going to cost them $40k to have purchase power ran to their property so the solar solution made sense.

The system seems to be scaleable. In that you could add panels or battery capacity as you could afford it.
