seems student loans are fine for those who need them and use them for useful degrees. most people borrow money for expenses they can't pay in one shot. big problem came when obumer took over the program from banks and made it very/too easy + they are being used for spring/summer breaks vs working - then colleges started selling them to drive their revenue up - then dims started floating plans to pay them off - obviously in exchange for loyal voting - all part of the left wing plan - just like most other hand-out programs

anyone taking out a student loan should be required to enroll in a personal finance class that clearly demonstrates what a loan is and who is responsible to pay it off.

we saved money to pay for books and tuition for our kids and expected them to work part time to help with other expenses -- we could probably have picked up their whole tab but there is an important learning experience there

Yep. Take a look at today’s typical college student and what student loan money is actually spent on. Also take a look at the number of employees at the college and how many actually teach anything. Tuition needs to be lowered and the gluttons calling themselves doctor this and doctor that need to get real jobs. Anyone on a student loan should be making real progress towards a degree that will result in a career that can pay the loan back quickly, not a 20 year little payment so they can blow their money on other stuff.

Goobermint SHOULDNT be charging interest, UP TO A POINT.

The original loans should be for legitimate tuition expenses, with a marketable degree as a qualifying factor.

I believe the loans would be better managed IF they were interest free for 5 years after getting out of school. Then,
2 1/2% interest, with a 1% yearly increase, after 2 years.

This latest ploy is a **** / Dumbasscraps campaign talking point and squelched media, so taxpayers are mostly unaware.

Goobermint SHOULDNT be loaning money, PERIOD.
fixed that one.

Banks loan money, the government shouldn't. Any time they get involved prices skyrocket. Look at healthcare.

Used to be you could walk in with $20 and get patched up for minor things. Now it's $195 just to write your name down, not fix you - and if you don't have an insurance card a lot of desk people don't know what to do. "He's one of THOSE...."

Look at medicare/medicaid. Soonercare. All overbilled constantly and who pays? You and me. Same goes for these student loans over the long term.

Tuitions skyrocketed when goobermint guaranteed loans.

Housing skyrocketed when goobermint guaranteed loans.

Insurance skyrocketed when goobermint guaranteed coverage.

Taxpayers get bent over and skyrocketed every time Congress meets.

That $195 is IF you have Insurance, charge is $900, unless you claim to be "one of those."

Was talking with a pharmacist about my co-pay going up. He hates Big Pharma and insurance. He recommended I go to another pharmacy that I have never used. Tells me, " without insurance, this prescription costs me $2 and I sell it for $4. The moment I know you have insurance, I cannot, " by law", tell you of the cash option. As soon as I submit your insurance, $10 co-pay is displayed. $7 goes to drug company and $3 to me. ($2 cost, $1 profit). I make less, you pay more and drug company gets 500% and insurance get a bill. Many of the drug companies advertise 'help, if you don't have insurance'. They aren't the ones paying.

Holy over reactions.

Americans, creators of the greatest economy in human history, got bamboozled on education and healthcare using the socialism boogeyman. It’s ridiculous. Let’s give another $100 billion to Ukraine and $40 billion more to illegals but screw our own kids amiright? Yeah, that’ll teach em!

Not the same thing at all. Ukraine and illegals are also bad, but giving free money to anyone is bad because it's not free. You're just making it look free by charging higher prices to survive, then giving a few pennies back to the paupers and calling it "free". History shows this is great for buying votes, not great for stabilizing a country.

aaaaaannnnddddd to add to the dumbassery..... in this morning news it saya that the texas electricity price rose 800 percent yesterday???? why it says? well because of the demand for electricity was greater than the capacity to generate and as the sun angle changed the solar farms fell off and the wind was to subtle tor the turbines. aaaaaaannnnd because of carbon credits the cost to burn the extra fuel for conventional generation prices rose out of control....... i hope ya'll understand how this works.
