The perfect road trip. Drive through the panhandle on your way to the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, the absolute Mecca for shooters. Stop in Boise City to pick up a case of NML jerky (for about the price you pay for a pound at your store). Visit the Grasslands and Capulin Volcano. Stop in Knotts gun shop in Clayton, NM for some SPP (he had a load last time I stopped in 3 weeks ago). Buy liquor in NM because it’s cheap compared to OK. Drink, eat jerky, and shoot to your hearts content.

Been through the panhandle many, many times. Only times I've stopped or stayed were to shoot prairie dogs (Slapout) or hunt antelope (near Boise City). Otherwise, just keep on driving until you get somewhere worth stopping.
