Absolutely not, but I do think the times have changed since Mr. Booker preached his ideals. He spoke of hard work, he spoke of togetherness. At some point there has to be an additional push for the separatist mentality to be gone and to work towards the togetherness of the human race, not just his. We are worried about Lee, Lincoln, Washington and so on, but their ways of life were carved in their times, so is Mr. Booker's. Either join mankind as a unit or keep yourself separate and hold a grudge for incidents that no one alive today played a part in historically. The fracture that exists is in large due to certain cliques refusing to be included as a whole and wishing special compensation and privilege based on history, not the present. I will not be held responsible for the actions of anyone but myself, but my actions I take full responsibility for. Mr. Washington was a great leader for several decades, but times have changed and methodology must as well.So you think that Booker Washington's philosophy of blacks sticking together in a time that they were heavily discriminated against, while trying to better themselves is a negative thing?
and I bet they had no idea why...
Booker T. Washington. Enough said.
All the General Lee schools and statues getting taken down and names changed, MAYBE Booker T. Washington needs a review???
Booker T. Washington, educator, reformer and the most influential black leader of his time (1856-1915) preached a philosophy of self-help, racial solidarity and accommodation. He urged blacks to accept discrimination for the time being and concentrate on elevating themselves through hard work and material prosperity.
Solidarity is unity (as of a group or class) which produces or is based on unities of interests, objectives, standards, and sympathies. It refers to the ties in a society that bind people together as one. ... In simple societies it may be mainly based on kinship and shared values.
Damn, and we tore down Lee's statues for what???
