Hornady quit making it.
Winchester was making it but some manufacturing equipment problems came up in 2023,

So I have read.

Read the stuff I have and it will make you think hard about stocking up or selling it off if you own one.

I do not own one and I have seen my buddies 17 HMR in action and for me that was a hard pass.
100 yard was just awful. Made me not desire a .17 anything
I like my centerfire .223.

There's zero comparison between an HMR and a WSM. I carry a WSM all summer on the farm and there's no difference between it and my .222 on coyotes out to 200y. Accuracy is great and I have the cheap synthetic Bmag rifle. It only drops 7" at 200y and has the HMR beat by 700fps at the muzzle.

It's a great prairie dog round, way better than HMR. It was slow to take off then plentiful, and I've not looked for any in several years...but guess I should have. I've got maybe 500-700 rounds of it so I'm not out yet, but guess I need to keep an eye out for production runs.
Cheaper to shoot 204 Ruger at those prices!!

I love my .17 HMR's . Have one in the CZ, and one in Savage. Both with Bull Barrels. I shot out to 235 yards with great accuracy. Ammo can make a huge difference. I also shoot the same in .22LR same brand guns and same 235 yards targets, (pig matches with 6X8 inch targets) I just recently went with what was supposed to be a better barrel, I spent almost $600 on a Lilija Barrel on the CZ 457. I really can't tell any improvements over the CZ barrel. Shot them both at Prairie dogs and smoke them, even my CZ 457 .22 WMR does a good job. out of all of these, the .17 HMR is my go-to!
