I was on a SWAT team with a couple of ladies that handled themselves quite admirably on the street. And our selection process wasn't neutered based on gender. If you passed the selection process and proved yourself you were on the team.
I've also worked with some ladies who were very capable of performing the jobs the signed up for, some more than the males they worked with to be honest. I've seen ladies take down a much bigger male, not because help wasn't there, but only because they were in a situation that required them to act right then.

I have a novel idea.
I think all these police should just quit to a man/woman.
911 can respond with something to the effect of "you're on your own" and "provide an address for the ambulance"

We'd save a lot of taxes and people wouldn't get hurt feelings over IDs and cops having bad days.
I would sign up for this 100%. I believe the good would over take the bad in a very short order. They already investigate a hell of a lot more crimes than they stop.

:madbox::madbox::madbox:

We can solve everything by banning IDs and Licenses (drivers licenses included)!

If a run of the mill Joe breaks the law and gets caught they can go to jail or pay a fine (or both).

I think it is time that disrespecting police officers needs to pay a fine (payable to the person that had their rights violated), (from the officer's own pocket)!

I'd add that officers caught lying should be imediate termination, and forfeiture of benefits / retirement!

Respect is earned they say! :soapbox:

Holy wiener snitzzle you guys.

Back to the OP’s question.

A bicycle is a vehicle and is aloud on the roads. Even though they do not require license, registration, liability insurance, ect.

You do have to obey traffic laws and motorist have to obey other laws in respect to you riding.

Oklahoma Statute 47-6-112 is the one you are looking for. It specifically mentions motor vehicles. Best thing you can do is know the laws that apply to you when operating on streets.

Section 7 here.

A Bicyclists Guide to Traffic Laws - BikeOklahoma

The whole thing is a good read.

I don’t understand the whole “Qualified Immunity” argument. If an officer has a bad shoot, crashes into someone, uses excessive force, or many other examples, they are held accountable just like anyone else. And as far as the bicycle situation, if you break a traffic law on a bicycle you have to identify just as if you were driving a car.
Where the problem comes in though is that, for example, an officer gets dinged for a 'bad shooting' the most that usually happens is that he/she is fired from THAT department - that's it! Sure, he/she might be the subject of a CIVIL lawsuit, but criminally speaking, he/she usually walks free - then he/she goes out and gets hired by some other law enforcement agency in a different jurisdiction.

Recent event: Off-duty cop wakes-up hearing someone in his kitchen, grabs his private sidearm, confronts the thieves as they run out the door, shoots both of them in his driveway as they are running away - good shooting hero officer.

If you and I did the exact same shooting we would be charged with [at least] aggravated assault or even attempted murder because the perps were already fleeing when we shot them (i.e. fleeing thieves no longer posed an immediate threat to us).
