I hope someone will correct me if I am wrong but I though carry a loaded [concealed] handgun in your vehicle without a permit was only a traffic violation. Not an arrest-able offense?

The SDA states:

TITLE 21 § 1289.13. Transporting a loaded firearm

TRANSPORTING A LOADED FIREARM

Except as otherwise provided by the provisions of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act or another provision of law, it shall be unlawful to transport a loaded pistol, rifle or shotgun in a land borne motor vehicle over a public highway or roadway.

.
.
.

Any person convicted of a violation of this section shall be punished as provided in Section 1289.15 of this title.

.
.
.

TITLE 21 § 1289.15. Penalty for firearms act of 1971
PENALTY FOR FIREARMS ACT OF 1971
Any person adjudged guilty of violating any provision of Section 1289.9, 1289.10, 1289.11, 1289.12 or 1289.13 of this title shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine of not less than Fifty Dollars ($50.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or imprisonment in the county jail for not less than ten (10) days nor more than six (6) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

Just wanted to clarify that is more than a traffic ticket.

Winter is on the way. CCW the Glock 21C. Heck I carry a full size USP 45 in the winter.

By spring or summer you can save enough for a more a more traditional type CCW rig.

Get the License ASAP

Cards81fan posted, yes you can be arrested and most of the time you will be, depends on the LEO weather or not he takes you in

Yes, you can travel with it, but it must be unloaded and not completely concealed and preferably in the original manfactuer box ,and if you get pulled over you still need to inform the LEO that you have a unloaded pistol in the truck

1289.13A is what I was going by

TITLE 21 § 1289.13A. Improper transportation of firearm

IMPROPER TRANSPORTATION OF FIREARM

A. Notwithstanding the provisions of 1272 or 1289.13 of this title, any person stopped pursuant to a moving traffic violation who is transporting a loaded pistol in the motor vehicle without a valid concealed handgun permit authorized by the Oklahoma Self- Defense Act or valid license from another state, whether the loaded firearm is concealed or open in the vehicle, shall be issued a traffic citation in the amount of Seventy Dollars ($70.00), plus court costs for transporting a firearm improperly. In addition to the traffic citation provided in this section, the person may also be arrested for any other violation of law.

Reading it this makes sense, as it overrules the penalty mentioned for other violations. Seems odd though that they wouldn't just list the penalties all together more concisely.
