If I were building one, The Mega Maten ambi lower would get the nod. I'd love to have the upcoming AXTS AX762 lower, but I don't think the price difference will be worth it.

Don't Mega Maten's have to be bought as a set? I was told they are matched upper/lower sets only.

I don't need a high precision .308, that's why I have my Grendel. I love LaRue stuff but its not what I need for this one.

Yes, but that's going to net you the best upper/lower fit and finish match anyway. After all, you're going to need both. :anyone:

Well now that you say you aren't looking for a precision .308 ar-10 platform the recommendations are going to be endless. I will say that for just an everyday AR-10 Armalite and DPMS are hard to beat. I would put it Armalite > DPMS, who better than the original company that helped start it all?

The current Armalite, Inc. company isn't the one that started it all. The original Armalite that designed the AR-10 back in the 50s was a division of Fairchild. They went out of business in the 60s and the current owners bought their trademark in the 90s, just to take advantage of the name recognition. Their new AR-10 is not on the same pattern as the original. KAC were the ones who carried the torch with that design, with their SR-25... which is the pattern DPMS used for their LR-308.

Myself, I would go with Knight's SR-25. I have only seen them sold as a set, upper and lower. You pay for it, but after I got that Knight's SR-15..... just say I among wanting to sale a few of my Colt's and replace them with Knight's....

The lower can be bought by itself. We've sold several lately.
