Are all you guys retired/unemployed or did your boss just let you off for this? Or did you burn vacation?

I voted Thurs, took about an hour here, all ages represented, folk DO watch news and weather and fit in voting when seems best time for weather and their schedules. A huge number of folk work evenings/nights/weekends, not everybody has a 9-5 weekday job by a long shot, or vacation at all to burn. Also locally, despite long lines Weds/Thurs/Fri/Sat, election day is always worse here. Remember to vote for what's most important to most Americans, and that's more consumer electronics.

I don't remember if it applied to early voting, but I seem to remember one of my employers allowing an hour or two for voting. But, that might have only been for actual election day.

Employers must allow registered voters two hours off to vote on election day or during in-person absentee voting. If the employee’s voting location is further away, “sufficient” time should be given. The employee must notify the employer, either verbally or in writing, at least three days in advance. The employer can choose the specific hours or day for the leave, and this rule does not apply if the employee’s workday starts or ends three hours before or after polling hours. Employees will not lose pay or face penalties for taking time off to vote, provided they show proof of voting. Employers who do not comply may face a fine between $50 and $100.

IMO, states should be able to run local and state elections anyway they want or what the people want. But, federal elections should be run, voted, counted the same way countrywide
No way shape or form should the federal government be involved in the election process. In fact the Constitution forbids it.
Can you imagine a liberal president, senate and house getting ahold of the process to control elections? We would never see a Republican in office ever again.

While I agree that it could be a disaster if it was in the hands of all liberals, if the perimeters were set as far as type of machines, ballots and chain of command, it would be better than it is at the current moment.
We may not know the outcome for days and that is unacceptable.
