I have a question about the statement "gunshow and internet loop hole"? Where can you buy a gun over the internet and not go through a background check? Every gun I've bought over the internet has been through a FFL and I wasn't aware you could even purchase one over the internet without going thru an FFL. Just wondering.

Here my friend Here...That's what they are talking about by the internet gun sales....To outlaw a FTF between members on OSA.Or at least make it if I want to sell you my 1911 right here in the classifieds we would have to do a FFL 4473 type check to make it legal.

Just be because you don't agree with it, don't assume it's not accurate. Unless you have some other info.

Expanding background checks for would-be gun owners is a commonsense proposal much like requiring a photo ID before someone is allowed to vote. Both have overwhelming support.

But while people think requiring more background checks makes sense, most don’t think it will make much of a difference. Only 41% believe more background checks will reduce gun violence.

Second, people want to make sure the checks are limited to only restricting convicted felons and those with serious mental health issues. Only 30% want broader background checks.

Third, just 40% want to see a national database of gun owners created. This last point really frustrates some advocates of gun control, including President Obama.

In Denver last week, he said, “You hear some of these quotes: ‘I need a gun to protect myself from the government.’ ‘We can’t do background checks because the government is going to come take my guns away.’ Well, the government is us. These officials are elected by you.”

On one level, the president is right. If people trusted the government, there would be no reason to be concerned about background checks, but only one-in-five voters believe the government currently has the consent of the governed.

Half the nation views the federal government as a threat to individual liberties rather than a protector of those rights. Sixty-five percent (65%) recognize that the purpose of Second Amendment gun control rights is protection against tyranny, and 44% believe it’s likely the government will try to confiscate all privately owned guns over the next generation.

This helps explain why the legislation is struggling in Congress. People like the idea of background checks but don’t think they’ll make much difference. They’re also suspicious about the motives of those in government.

I don't consider a random sample of 1013 people over the age of 18 to be a true 90% representation of American people. And if there are no background checks done on 40% of sales, then how did they come up with 40% if there was no record?

Well you do know that 60% of statistics are made up 80% of the time to keep the person doing the statistics at least 10% correct....yaknow...

I laughed my rear-end off at the hypocrisy of BO when he pointed his finger at the "gutless" senators and said that they put retaining their jobs above everything else. Obama puts his socialist agenda/ideals & self-preservation above the United States of America, the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the American way of life, etc., etc., etc. He could have done all of his anti-gun legislation agendas in his first term(had control of the House and Senate), but he went "Under the Radar" to save his own behind to get his second term(we are now seeing the REAL OBAMA).

"Given his record, there’s every reason to believe that what’s really bothering him is the fact that red-state Dems denied him an easy chance today to demagogue Republicans as the party of child murder or whatever, which he was hoping to use next year as a way to retake the House. Then, once he had a Democratic Congress again, he could pass some new horrible permutation of ObamaCare or immigration or the minimum wage or some other liberal wishlist item that has nothing to do with gun control."
