The muscle relaxers never actually helped me.
Tons of ibuprophen, as prescribed by your physician of course.
No pillow under your head and sleep on your back with a pillow under the knees.
Try not to sit anymore than you have to and try to walk often to loosen things up.
Take a break from the trick sex.
Start off by saying I've bad back surgery and have had problems all my life. So please listen.
1. Stop drinking alcohol and start drinking lots of water. Discs need fluid in them and around them to function properly. Zero alcohol.
2. Go to academy and buy an inversion table, little over $100. Don't waste your money on the over priced stuff. But it will change your life. It will take a while to get used to it, but once you use it your set.
3. Get rid of your wallet. Never drive or sit with it in your back pocket.
Inversion table, and the latest data I've read says that Chiroprictic care within 24 hours will do more to shorten the healing time than pain pills.
I've been in your position.
Why can't you take Tramadol? Does it do something to you? It's a non-narcotic and for most people they have no significant side effects whatsoever. Flexeril sucks, knocks you out and makes you loopy, plus in my experience takes about 3 days of continuous use (aka zombie-state) before it really kicks in good. A better muscle relaxer for my money is methocarbamol, trade name Robaxin. 500mg, 2 pills 4 times daily. No side effects at all for most people, does NOT knock you out or make you loopy, isn't a narcotic or anything that will throw off drug screens, etc. Much much better choice, and what I use 99% of the time for my patients. However, it's not cheap as dirt like Flexeril. Insurance usually covers it, if you have it.
Just a few things.Oh and get ready for the chiropractor to give you a shoe insert, 'cause one leg is longer than the other.
You should be able to take tramadol at most jobs...Shoot I was in afghanistan doing combat patrols....Just saying.
The things that i have found work the best for me are not sitting long periods of time, walking lots, drinking lots of water only, doing core exercises. Try to pick exercises that don't strain your back...Situps and flutter kicks are not good.
