We have had all these threads on food. I just want to know the best place you have ever been and the worst. It does not have to be in Oklahoma. It does not have to be just the food, but the atmosphere and just a place you will allways go back and the place you would never go again.
The best. Sirro in St Genevieve Mo. It has the best onion rings in the world."Yes. I said world." The bar on the side of it is called Orris. You can walk from one to the other. A great place if you are ever there.

The worst. Pop Hicks in Clinton Ok. I think this place burned down. A friend took me there years ago and it was the nastiest, most dirty, hunger killing place I have been in my life. "Yes. I said my life."

OK, I'll play...

The very best was a place called "The Silver Tortoise" that used to be in Rochester, NY. It's long gone, but they had the best northern italian (non-marinara) entrees, and a raspberry/rosemary balsamic house dressing that I used to sop up with bread because it was just too good!

The very worst was a Denny's in Cape Canaveral, FL. This was in the early 90's just before their discrimination scandal broke. I was having dinner with a NASA employee who happened to be black. They sat us in a cubbyhole near the pass thru to the kitchen. The tables in this area were all seated with black couples and families. It was early and there was plenty of seating in the main area. The entire staff stayed as far away as they could. It took 90 min to get a simple order and the food was cold and inedible when it finally arrived. I was horrified by this treatment and ashamed that people were still acting this way.

I've been to a couple of Denny's in other places since, but I always look to see how they are seating their customers before I let them seat me. :twocents:

The best to me was this little burger joint down the road when I worked on a farm. Connies Cafe in Washburn, MO. $4 got you a burger almost 6" across and tall with whatever you wanted on it, a huge pile of fresh salted fries, and a large drink. In the summer when we were baling, I literally ate there almost every day. Ended up closing down, dunno why, but every time I drive through there I wish it was still open.

The worst: Join the Navy, and volunteer for subs. I always said "If we get the best food in the Navy, I'd sure as $#%* hate to see the worst." When you tell whether or not the roast beef is good by the shade of the oily green sheen. . .something ain't right. Plus, and I'm sure Roadking Larry has a similar story, any time you get "Salt Cookies" instead of Sugar Cookies, you might just be a Submariner. . .

It's hard to pin it down.

One the best I've had has to be Eddie V's in Austin. Best Ribeye I've ever had (outside of cooking my own).

The worst had to be over in England (pick any restaurant). For being so involved in spice trade and India in the past...I don't think they ever learn how to use spices. It had to be the most bland tasteless food I've ever had. Then again, I'm a spice-aholic. :)

The best:

Kimo's on Maui. Great Food, Awesome Atmosphere and just fell in Love. It's in Old Lahaina if anyone is planning a trip to Maui.

The worst:

Altitude at the top of the Eiffel Tower. WAY overpriced and crap food. The Appetizer was DORITOS. No joke. They put a few on a plate and served them as some sort of "cheese chip". Laughable.

Best place I ever ate was Pete's Cafe on Capitol Hill in DC. They had a turkey dinner that was unbelievable. :hyper: Good and Plenty in Bird in Hand, PA was pretty good too. Worst, that's hard to say. I try not to eat crappy food.

I'll second this... I spent a year in Ireland, and OMG, I couldn't believe how bad most of it was. The two times I made it over to London were the same.
