Panic buying? This is what the government and news always blames shortages on. The economy is so bad few can afford to panic buy. Panic buying is diversion of blame. It's not the unions fault, or the gov't for screwing up our economy and the supply chain, " it's YOU Mr. And Mrs. Middle Class America for your need of consumer goods. You are horrible citizens how dare you be inequitable..."

Panic is going to cause the shortage. Strikes never last. Those Longshore hands aren't getting a paycheck while on strike so we can easily out last them...2 weeks tops. Hell the same situation with shipping halted during covid and there was no deadly shortage.
Don't post dumb panic stuff like this please. Your a part of the problem.

I remember the Los Angeles Newspaper Guild strike against the LA Herald-Examiner in the early or possibly mid-60's. Dad was a distributor for them. Essentially lost his job. Strike ended in 1972, IIRC. Dad got $18 from the strike fund. Worked as a longshoreman to keep my half-siblings fed. Until he gave up and moved to Colorado. Even with all the automation these days, somebody has to pull the boxes and such out of the containers. The management will probably hire strike breakers, just as was done back then. Also IIRC, the management company is owned by China. That may have some "interesting" effects.

That said, we survived COVID-19, we can probably survive not being able to buy Chinese crap once again. If the whole freaking world doesn't just blow up and burn.

I hope they strike again, Maybe the new prez will fire them like Reagan fired the Air Traffic Controllers.

Flying was real nice after that for years. I remember OKC to Houston Hobby $45.00- $55.00 one way round trip was $80.00 and some change.
