All the theological talk we've had around here in the past couple days sort of begs a question. Most of us here are products of Christian civilization. How can a bunch of you guys be so sure about what the Koran means when we can't even seem to agree on what the Bible means?

I dont know what the Koran or Torah means, I do know that traditionally the Koran and Torah havent been edited, modified and translated nowhere close to the number of times our "Bible" has. That reason alone tells me the Bible is prolly not something we ought to be using as fact.

However, i do believe there are stories/parables that can lead us to a better life.

when I clicked on to your muslim friendly link it caused my computer problems, is that part of the plan? I'll darn well trust what I see and hear every day, rather than some made for Idiot consumption, photo op. Oh, wait, I already know George Bush master minded 9/11. Muslims really do love us thats why the murder us and blow our stuff up. I mean like they only, benevolently, want to save us from ourselves. But of course we have it coming, cause we probably offended allah, mohammad. or their blessed book. Religion of peace my a--.

you said you couldnt explain it. I took that to mean you couldnt explain why Christians follow some of the old testament.

Perhaps you think Jesus was a Christian? He was a practicing Jew, Jews follow the teachings of the Torah. At no time did Jesus ever renounce his faith.

Jesus did not start practicing Christianity - he was, in His person, the Christ. That did not in any way preclude Him from also being Jewish and practicing the Jewish faith, because He was a member of God's Covenant people. Jesus, however, instituted the New Covenant the night before He died, which is the unique hallmark of Christianity. He fulfilled the Judaic Law and thus brought it to a conclusion, ushering in the New Covenant for believers in Him - Christians.

Christians don’t follow Judaism today because the Mosaic covenant has been fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them” (Matthew 5:17). And the writer to the Hebrews wrote, “By calling this covenant ‘new,’ he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear” (Hebrews 8:13).

Those are not my words I had to do some searching because I don't have all the answers.

Christians are such fine upstanding people as well, just like the Muslims you have your radical segments committing acts of domestic terrorism all the time bombings, murders, and kidnappings of doctors and staff that run and work at abortion clinics. All in the name of god and with righteous blessings against the immoral sinners.

im not disagreeing exactly. When quoting Matthew (or Mark, Luke and John) he is qouting somebody else(prolly mark) decades after Jesus' death. That would be like you qouting JFK today, although you didnt actually hear JFK speak but your dad did.

I do understand how the first followers of Christ came about, i also think Christians evolved into something very different from the Jewish Rabbi we call Jesus. Nowhere is it written or recorded that Jesus was anything other than a Jew. He never renounced his faith.
