Try driving around Lake Hefner some week end where there are over 15 miles of bike paths. There will be traffic backed up behind some single bike rider riding down the middle of the road, 15 feet or so away from an empty bike trail.
Some bikers are just asking to become hood ornaments.
When I ride, I stay the hell out of the road, especially on the main thoroughfares.
I'd hate to end up going through someone's windshield and end up in their front seat.
I don't think we'd have much of a conversation that way.

Yeah, if there is a bike lane, and it's safe to use, i'll use it. Problem is that people here use them as parking for the city park sometimes.

I've also had a LEO tell me to get on the MUP (even though the law in South Carolina states that it's the choice of the rider whether to ride on the MUP or the road). The problem came that i was going slower than a car but faster than the joggers who like to randomly stop in my path. Or the people who let their dogs wander across the lane...

I like the guys who ride the wrong direction in your lane and don't move. It's like "I'm walking, but on a bike."

There should be a comprehensive natural deselection law. If you are stupid, and die or get injured, sorry 'bout that, regardless of mode of mobility.

Darwin's Law of Reciprocity?

Starting on November 1 a distraction law goes into effect. You can be pulled over for any number of things that warrant being distracted.

Here's a link to the law.

Like cyclists? They distract the heck out of me!

Seriously though. Although they get to use the road, there are some single sided issues there, like;

No tag needed
No license needed
No insurance needed

Driving a car is a privilage, not a right. Why is driving a bike on the road a right? I can get a ticket in a car for holding up traffic. Why not a bike? Seems like cake you get to have and eat too, on a bike.

On the other hand, there's all that pedaling. Yucckkkk!

I ride in the tulsa metro area, for the most part people in cars are pretty good, when i ride on the public roads Im as far right as possible, and wave cars too pass when its safe for a pass, I ride very little on public roads because it is crazy out there, same reason i gave up motorcycles at least untill i get my kids through college, cell phones & texting behind the wheel is happening everywhere, its bad even in a car or truck, on a bike forget it, we stick too the bike path system 95% of the time where the only thing too worry about are joggers or walkers turning around without looking and dogs with people not holding on to there pet, so not all bikers or motorvehicle drivers are inconsiderate, but on a bike you lose and those idiots are everywhere

AGREED x 100 !

let it be known that i always try to be courteous to everyone on the road or not, and would never purposely endanger anyone, and would give every consideration to anyone who HAD to use a bicycle for actual transportation, but if youre just out for a stroll on the highway, then it seems to me i should have more rights to the road because of all the afore mentioned expenses i must pay to be there.

Hogwash.

I have to pay all of those things for my car, just like you do. So why would my rights be less if i was on my bike instead of my car? The expenses are the same whether you are using your car, or not, so why wouldn't it be the same for me?

Because it is not a right, it is a privilage. Read the Oklahoma Driver's License book. If you are obstructing traffic, it is a violation, and you could (and should) be ticketed, be it a car, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, or scooter.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way!!!

So you're saying all privileges should have a cost/fee associated to them?

If they are to be given every right a car has and then some, why do they not have to have a state issued tag and liability insurance on their bike like we have to have on our autos.

+1
Why do the bikes ride Hwy 11 in Skiatook and Sperry when there is a perfectly good bike trail all the way through there?

Why do people shop at Wal-Mart when Target is so much better? :anyone:
