I'm too danged old to learn another language.

I spent 8 years traveling to many foreign countries in the USAF,,,
Yes, a lot of them had a much cheaper cost of living,,,
But the quality of living matched that scale as well.

I know three people (Two retired professors and one State retiree),,,
They all went to Belize in Central America for the low cost,,,
They all came back.

Abandoning a culture isn't an easy thing to do.

The biggest impediment to retiring in another country is the IRS. They still want their full cut regardless of where you live. I'm not down with renouncing my US citizenship just to escape their grubby clutches. If I did retire somewhere else, the cost savings would have to offset the IRS and cost of living.

As soon as I find a country where I can take all my guns and ammo, and regularly purchase guns and ammo, I might consider it. I've lived in lots of nice places around the world. But all things considered, I'm perfectly happy to live out my retirement here over anywhere else.
