I have been working from the time I was about 12. I am 42 now and have been late to work "maybe" 4 times in my life. I spent most of those years working on call and many 24, 36, 48 hour shifts and still made it to work the next day.
What the hell has happened to people?
I am not working my first 8-5 job. I sometimes feel like I am the only person here that can make it to work on time all week. I am sitting here this morning waiting on the help to call with his lame ass excuse for why he is late again today. Atleast one person is late for work almost everyday. If I can make it to work, why can't they? It gets old.
How the hell can you not make it to a 8-5 job on time?

Yes. We start at 7:30, but it is close enough to 8.

I am done.

I agree 150%! I know someone who is riding on unemployment for almost a year now because they don't want to get a job. I even had a job lined up for them and they did not show up for the interview and gave me some BS excuse. I think what really cooks me about it is he complains about how high the unemployment rate is and how it is the governments fault, I really wanted to ask him if he had looked in the mirror recently.

I have been out of work a few times but I have never filed for unemployment or government assistance. We always figured out a way to make ends meet until I found another job.

Hell my employer enables it! We have flex time. You have a 30 minute on either side of your assigned to show to work. It's kinda nice when you have a doctor appointment or something but it's abused alot too.

Is there no penalty for coming in late? If there is and its not being enforced then who's fault is that?

They have started writing them up as of late. Sad thing is that Saturday here is an easy day. We really do not do much. It is an easy day to come in and mess around and people still don't show up on time. If I was in charge, they would be here, or be gone.

That is the other thing. It is easy going here. If they would call and tell someone they are going to be a little late, it would be fine. They just show up late and don't call untill they are almost here. By that time, it is too late.
