I hate it when the news wants opinions on gun laws.

Looking forward to open carry, no more having to be concerned about printing or any of that non sense.

Its the law, its going to be legal, folks just need to deal with it, get over it and move on.

ez bake, the reason people feel "entitled" and get that "big man syndrome" I believe, is because too long we've not be able to open carry. If open carry was never banned in the first place it wouldn't feel like a bad ass now that it's being introduced.

Nice chip on your shoulder, but no where in that paragraph you quoted are the words "hate", "Stupid", or "Idiot", nor did he refer to the size of anyone's manhood.

No chip on my shoulder friend, just honestly confused at why so many so called supporters of the 2A here are being so hateful towards another group of gun owners..... we are supposed to all be the good guys and support each other IMO

Larry Dale carrys concealed Oct 31 and open carry Nov 1... what dumbs him down like so many are predicting? Is it like a zombie and he has to be bitten or something?

He is still the same guy with the same state issued permit to carry. Either he will be responsible, or he should never have been issued the permit in the first place. Simple as that.

And if you havent picked up the hatred some here have towards the people that will choose to open carry, you havent been paying close attention.

Do you realize how dumb that first paragraph sounds? So you're gonna tell people you can't carry a 1911 but you can carry your j frame revolver for the first week, then ease into it. The media is going to spout what they're going to spout. It makes no difference. Also I believe if someone shows off their gun to someone that should be defined as brandishing a firearm. Noone should take their weapon out of their holster to "show it off". The anti gun crowd doesn't need fodder, they do just as well making up their own.

Unlike some folks on OSA, I don't get all bristly and puffed-up when someone calls my comments "dumb." Rather, I go back and see what it is you might find intellectually inferior about my post; in this case, I'm not sure how you got "tell people you can't carry" from "I would suggest being discreet about it". My comment there was meant to get people to think about it and perhaps see what it is I'm trying to say, not to lay down the law and say what you can or cannot do. If you took it as the latter, I'm sorry for not being more clear about it.

Back to the topic; what I was attempting to get across was the thought that even if the anti-gun media will make up their own stories, why should we responsible gun owners make it any easier for them? Hence my comment about waiting a few days, then starting off with an unobtrusive carry piece, then going to the main piece. Little by little, get them used to the idea. Then the other part of my comments was about how doing something blatant like carrying a large handgun in a conspicuous manner, or a slung long arm, would probably do more harm than good. It's one thing to be proud of one's rights, it's another thing entirely to be dumb about it. Oops, I used that word.

Nobody said it dumbs you down to open-carry (that's the "chip on the shoulder" attitude I'm talking about). I'm not concerned about the responsible people out there. I don't "hate" anyone for choosing to open-carry, and no - I haven't picked up on any of the "hatred towards the people that will choose to open carry" so maybe I have missed something.

Like I said - I'm for our rights to carry (even though I won't carry openly). I just fear stupid people who are already doing/saying stupid stuff now, but having to at least attempt to hid it. The open-carried gun will change those people's attitudes - and they get lumped in with "all gun people" and we're already looking at choosing between two easily-media-swayed anti-gun presidents and Congress isn't too many changes away from going anti-gun as well.

One big media incident is worth 1000 public endorsements/campaign propaganda advertisements.

I'm not lumping all into one pile, there will no doubt be the few (more than we anticipate) out there doing more harm to us gun nuts than good... If you take offense to my "but I can't wait to just watch those "Duke's" out there... Walking around like self proclaimed bad@sses"... I've got bad news for you...

I remember when the CWL passed, folks said oh there will be blood in the streets, its going to be like the old west, do you really want just anyone walking around with gun, etc etc etc, none of it happened and folks settled in, give it time and OC will be the same way.

Again, no chip on the shoulder.... I just dont understand the hatered......

You have missed a lot of posts then. There have been many "wild west", cowboys with chrome six shooters, and making up for the size of their manhood comments made in reference to people that say they may open carry here.
