You're right. Perception's everything. The GOP has also been successfully painted as the party of misogyny. Republicans have laid back and allowed extremists like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, Michele Bachmann, et al define the party. It's going to take some work to grab the GOP back from MSNBC.

So Anne Coulter, Michele Bachmann, and (I'll add) Sarah Palin are misogynists? Is that because they don't believe that women can't be successful? No, wait it can't be that...hmmm..could it be that any Conservative (not Republican or Democrat per se) is portrayed as a woman hater if he (not misogyny just standard English usage) doesn't support abortion and large income transfer social programs? Yeah, I think that is a lot closer to reality. And don't forget the Conservative will also, by default, be a racist as well.
