Tell me about Keurig coffee makers please. Anyone own one? Do you like it? Easy to make a cup of tea or coco? I am thinking of buying or trading for one as we have no coffee maker at the moment and do not drink enough for a regular machine. I might want a cup of coffee every month or two as a hold over habit from my construction days. Wife does like hot tea a lot. I figure something like a Keurig or similar would be all we need and with all our daughters stuff we have to sell I should be able to afford or trade for a reasonably priced machine.

I love mine. I drink about three mugs a day. If it breaks, Imma order another one right away. Splurge a little, I have a Keurig Elite and one thing I really love over the base model is I can turn it on, hit the brew button, and do something else and come back when it's ready. I think with the base model you have to let it heat the element up and then hit the brew button to make your cup. But if you just drink a cup now and then, that's probably not a big deal.

Tons of variety in flavors, teas, cocoa, about anything hot you want to drink. No plans to go back to a drip maker, ever. I make it as I drink it, never have any left over, or have to make another pot.

If money is an object there are off-name machines that are cheaper, but I don't have any experience with them. And a $20 Mr. Coffee and small can of Folgers is probably the least costly route, even with waste.

Not sure that a Keurig is all that great. We've got a friend that drinks a lot of coffee and he has had to replace two or three of his.

If as you describe is accurate, could you get by with a 4-cup Mr. Coffee coffee maker? Granted, it takes the filters and coffee in a can, but they work pretty well for just heating water for tea as well. If you think something like the Mr. Coffee would work for you, I have one that I could give you.

I love mine, these days I only have 2 or 3 cups of the life giving bean juice so there no waste with the single cup unit. Wal-Mart sells an entry level one that works just like the more expensive coffee makers.

Great machines I purchased one of the business grade Keurigs from Staples back in 2008 ish and its still working. I can't speak for the home machines but the business grade ones are built like a tank and just work

Dunno 'bout newer, smaller machines, but the larger machines hold water in the reservoir and if people didn't use them regularly? Mold would form.

I have a "larger" machine but I drink several cups of Kcup coffee a day, plus, I use it for instant oatmeal in the morning.

If you only want a cup of coffee every month or so, I'd suggest getting a machine that doesn't keep water that you cannot drain. (If they make such a thing.)

The one I've got stores water (in the heating section) that cannot be drained. It can only be replaced via usage. I can remove the "canteen" portion, but cannot drain the water in the heating reservoir. That's where the mold forms if it isn't recycled regularly.
