Lubricant for AR-15?

Hello everyone, I just became a new member to OSA. This is my first forum and I know i'm going to learn a lot from some
Knowledgeable people. Can i get some advise on what is the best Lubricant to use for an AR-15. Something that will not gum up under heat. Also is a oil or a grease type Lubricant better?

Break Free is the civilian name for what the military uses. It does a good job just a light coat is all that is needed.

Is that an oil or a grease? And can i by it at walmart or is it a gun shop only item?

I think Wally world has it if not go to acadmey sports... Or you can use 10w30 motor oil.

Never heard of anyone greasing AR's, most people go with oil of some type. 10w-30 works as well as any

I,ll try some of that Break Free, I've tried motor oil but it seem to run off the metal. thanks for the info.

All you need is a thin film... If it's dripping then you are using to much.

For hobby use...just lube it with any commonly available gun oil. No grease needed....

Break Free is good and I've used it for years, but multi purpose stuff is multipurpose, which means it doesn't do any one particular thing great.

SLiP-2000 is my new favorite.

I googled SLP-2000 , WOW , sounds like that stuff does it all. I can see why its your new favorite.

Technically it's a CLP like Break Free....but the lube seems to last longer.
