I would still choose the 30-30 over the AR, and once you get out in the country everyone but the young whipper snappers has a 30-30. Honestly if it were not for the threat of riots and crap I would not own a semi-auto rifle. Heck I am still tempted to trade my Mini 14 and mags, etc for a lever action 308 at times. Only reason I do not is that I expect the Democrats to try a real power grab sooner or later.
"Threat of riots"... in Edmond.

Gonna need the mini-14 to defend the stockpile of canned sausage from the dangerous horde of soccer moms.

Egyptian Maadi AKM for the win. Purchased in 1991. Literally thousands of rounds through it with zero FTF or FTE. Back then it was cheap to shoot (0.08/round), E. German mags were $3 and 75 round Chinese drum mags were $25. I still have ammo from the 90's I bought so much of it. I haven't shot it in 15 years, but I trust it more than any other battle rifle I own, and that list isn't short. I've owned 2 Mini 14's over the years and they were fine rifles, but sold them off as AR15's got more popular and cheaper.

The canned sausage is long gone, but I do have a few canned hams and some spam. Also Edmond has a lot more possible rioters than you would think.
